How to Have a Bachelor Party Without Having a Runaway Bride

We have all seen the bachelor parties in the movies - strippers, wild drunken debauchery the night before the wedding, a hungover groom, and a furious bride. Well, it doesn't have to be that way. More and more men are choosing to have pre-wedding celebrations with their groomsmen that, while not always as genteel as a bridal shower, manage to be fun without being trashy. The first tip is to have it well in advance of the wedding. The night before the wedding is not, repeat not, the time to stay out until all hours drinking with your buddies. (Brides are generally not pleased to have that first kiss on the altar be laced with the boozy fumes from a late night out with the guys!)

These days, many grooms and their attendants are planning bachelor parties that have little to do with strippers, and instead are based on their favorite leisure activities. Weekend trips are especially popular. Some ideas include getting away to golf resorts, clam bakes on the beach, and white water rafting trips. These excursions are a great time for the groom and his friends to get some time to relax before the wedding (and for the groom to have a few days off from picking out flowers and table linens!). It is also a good opportunity for the groom to present his groomsmen gifts.

Picking out gifts for another man is not myrtle beach strippers most guys, but there are plenty of great options. The key is to choose something that will last. Classic choices include sterling silver personalized gifts for men such as money clips, cufflinks, key chains, or pocket knives. Many men will also enjoy receiving gifts relating to drinking, so flasks and engraved glass mugs are always popular groomsmen gifts. Often grooms will customize the gifts to the hobbies or interests of his groomsmen (ie, golf or football), or choose something related to the bachelor party destination.

Of course, it isn't necessary to hit the road to have a great bachelor party. Close to home options include cigar bars, steakhouses, or even upscale gentleman's clubs. If choosing one of these options, still be sure to keep it classy (remember grooms, the point is that you are about to marry the woman of your dreams), and everyone will have a great time without doing anything that requires you to swear your groomsmen to secrecy afterwards!
